City of stars

From the balcony of the high-rise brick block, he looks to the sky full of twinkling stars. As the heavy breeze caresses his skin, the modern man sips at his glass of wine. How much better can life be? At bedtime, he again looks up to the sky and thinks the most inevitable question: Who is he really? He wonders in his aloneness, mutters to himself, remembers his past, and imagines what the future could be. Still gazing at the stars, he now slowly feels the tiredness of his body, his aching mind, and struggles to sleep. Night after night passes in this wake of utter loneliness. He lacks nothing, he thinks; affluence he has. Yet he feels unfulfilled.
